MASI (Mobile Analytical Services, Inc.) is a full-service, environmental laboratory, specializing in the sampling and analysis of drinking water, wastewater, storm water, and solid and hazardous waste. MASI offers electronic EPA reporting, a statewide* courier service, and quick, consistent turn times. With two locations (Columbus and Cincinnati) to serve you, and more than 47 years of experience, let MASI tailor services to meet your needs.

As an Ohio EPA Certified Laboratory, we offer a wide range of testing, that covers all your regulatory requirements. Chemical testing services include secondary contaminants, inorganic contaminants, synthetic organics, volatile organic, metals, and disinfection by-products. We also support all common analyses for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits. We offer additional expertise, to help with testing, that may not be part of routine analytical testing. MASI has a combination of resources, technical expertise, and testing ability, to support large and small clients. We can test a variety of matrices, including but not limited to, drinking water, wastewater, hazardous waste, sludge, soil, etc. MASI employs a dedicated, highly trained, seasoned staff, that are certified by the State of Ohio, to perform all your testing needs.  We employ modern instrumentation, to achieve the lowest possible detection limits, and the most accurate results, in the shortest amount of time. 

Microbiology Services

Our Microbiology department can accommodate all your coliform testing needs whether it be qualitative or quantitative. We offer fast, accurate testing by various OEPA certified methods, including MUG, MPN, or MF. In case of emergencies, we are ready day or night, 365 days a year, to help you with your coliform testing.

Richard Harner

CEO

Born and raised in Urbana, Ohio, Richard has worked at MASI for over 36 years.

Over his career, Rich held various positions starting out as a prep analyst, and then obtaining analyst certifications from the OEPA in wet chemistry, microbiology, and inorganic metals, before becoming MASI's QC officer, Lab Manager, Field Service Manager, Sales and Marketing Manager, all before taking ownership of MASI in 2018.

Rich graduated from Muskingum Technical College in their OLAB Wastewater Technical program and completed a Business Management program from Columbus State Community College.

Tyson Roberts

CFO

Born and raised in West Liberty, Ohio, Tyson earned his Master's in Accountancy from Bowling Green State University. With over 20 years of experience as a Certified Public Accountant, Tyson has specialized in providing financial statement audits and consulting services across various industries, including manufacturing and distribution, healthcare, financial institutions, and professional services.

Since acquiring MASI in 2018, Tyson has served as the company'sCFO, leveraging his expertise in healthcare reimbursement, accounting, and audit practices to drive organizational growth. Known for his ability to analyze complex business processes and optimize revenue, Tyson excels at identifying inefficiencies, enhancing reporting capabilities, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. His collaborative approach and leadership style have earned him a reputation as a frusted advisor and mentor.

Tyson holds professional affiliations with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA), and the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), where he is a Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP).

Mike Rex

Logistics Manager

Born and raised in West Liberty, Ohio, Mike has worked at MASI since 1980.

Over his 44-year career, Mike has developed and managed our complex routing system, overseeing a fleet of 22 cars and 20 couriers currently. As MASI's Logistics Manager, Mike's communication and coordination skills have made MASI's route system one of the best in the State.

Mike completed the Business Management program from Columbus State Community College.

Randy O'Neil

Field Service Manager

Randy O'Neil serves as Field Project Manager for MASI Laboratories and has been with MASI for over 13 years. Randy manages the day-to-day Field Service operations with existing clients and onboards all new clients with their environmental requirements. He has held managerial positions for over 30 years throughout his professional career.

Randy has a degree in Business Management. He currently lives in Marysville Ohio with his wife. Randy has 2 children, and his son also works for MASI. He enjoys Coaching middle School basketball and golfing with his friends.

Bridget Troesch

Sales & Marketing Manager

Bridget has been a member of the MASI team for over 24 years. She transitioned from Office Manager, to Sales & Marketing Manager, in October of 2018. Providing exceptional client service has always been, and continues to be, her daily goal. Her years of experience at MASI, has provided her with the tools, to assist clients, with any of their water quality requirements. A well-planned project leads to a successful project.

Bridget resides in her hometown, of Plain City, Ohio; with her husband and two children. When not at MASI, you will find her at one of her daughter's volleyball games, immersed in a new book, or watching a sporting event or cooking show. She is a proud graduate of The Ohio State University.

Karla Thaxton

Lab Director

Karla Thaxton has been with MASI Labs since 2006. She began her career at MASI as a semi-volatiles analyst and has had responsibilities with the organization including volatiles analyst, production supervisor, and laboratory manager for both the Cincinnati and Plain City facilities prior to becoming Lab Director in 2022.

In all, Karla has 30 years of experience in environmental laboratories, including 4 years in Quality Assurance and 9 years as a lead GC analyst and Metals analyst. Karla earned her B.A. degree in Chemistry from Capital University in 1993. Karla lives in Cincinnati with her husband and 4 cats. She enjoys running, photography, and travelling.

Audrey Cooper

Office Manager

Audrey Cooper serves as our Office Manager for our Plain City and Cincinnati laboratories. Upon her graduation in 2013, Audrey started her career over 11 years ago at MASI. From managing the day-to-day functions of our staff and customer service, to working daily with the OEPA, she thrives to ensure that all clients' needs and requirements are met to the highest quality.

Audrey resides in North Lewisburg Ohio with her husband and three children. In her spare time, she operates a small photography business, any enjoys spending time with her family.

Casey Patton

Lab Manager

Casey Patton serves as our lab manager at our Plain City location. He started his career with MASI Labs in 2008 in the wet chemistry department as an analyst. Over his 16-year career, he also served as our production supervisor for many years before transitioning to the lab manager role in 2023. Casey currently manages the day-to-day lab operations, ensuring our clients receive quality data and timely results.

Casey resides in West Liberty, Ohio, with his wife and two children. He enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with his family.
